Seasonal staff - couriers
Le Pas Opton is managed and operated by a dedicated team in France and the UK. Every summer we employ a talented, lively, enthusiastic team of seasonal staff to help us deliver an outstanding programme for all ages.
There are a number of different roles:
Courier team leaders work together with the Programme Manager to create kids and youth clubs crammed full of Bible stories, prayer, games, crafts and activities. The Courier team then work alongside team leaders to provide our guests with an amazing holiday experience for the whole family.
The sports couriers are responsible for delivering the Soccer Academy, which includes a "God slot" every morning, as well as other sports and activities throughout the day. Reception staff work with our office team to deliver a fantastic experience for our guests throughout their holiday. Bar and Kitchen staff work alongside the Commercial Manager, delivering fantastic service in our restaurant, kitchen and bar.

Couriers and staff spend anywhere between 6 and 14 weeks of their summer in France between mid-May and early September. Applicants are expected to work a minimum of 6 weeks during high season (14 July - 27 August). For the duration of their stay couriers will be accommodated in either a fixed tent or a converted mobile home.

FAQs
How old do I need to be to apply?
Applicants must be aged 18+ to work at Le Pas Opton. Therefore they must have reached 18 before their earliest available start date.
What is the minimum period I would be required to work in France?
The minimum you must be able to work at Le Pas Opton is Saturday 14 July to Monday 27 August 2012. If you are unable to work for this period it is highly likely your application will not be considered.
What if I can't attend the interview day?
We insist that all applicants are able to attend the interview day in Uckfield, East Sussex on 3 March 2011. There are no alternative interview dates. We will make a contribution towards travel costs to and from the interview day.
How many people apply for the positions?
Last year we had over 100 applications, interviewed 40 applicants and appointed 25. Due to the high number of exceptional applicants we have each year, the process is highly competitive. Only 40% of applicants make it to the interview stage.
Do couriers organise their own travel to Le Pas Opton?
Couriers are responsible for organising and paying for their travel to Portsmouth harbour. Spring Harvest Holidays will organise and pay for travel from Portsmouth harbour to Le Pas Opton, including a ferry crossing and travel in a minibus.
What accommodation do couriers stay in?
Couriers stay in a combination of fixed tents and converted mobile homes. Check our accommodation pages for more information
Are meals provided?
Yes, there is an option for Couriers to be provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Do I need to be able to speak French?
No, Le Pas Opton is an English speaking campsite. As well as English guests, we also welcome a number of French, German and Dutch families, but there is no requirement to speak any other language than English.
Do you get paid for being a courier?
Yes, couriers receive a wage and are employed on French employment contracts. We will provide more information on wages and deductions for food and accommodation at a later stage of the recruitment process.
