On site - renew mind, body and spirit...

We want to provide you with an unforgettable holiday - one that renews you in mind, body and spirit.

Each day, a resident speaker leads a programme of Bible teaching and worship.There’s an opportunity to gather in the morning for a Bible study and in the evening for worship.

Every Sunday morning, the week finishes on a high note with an all-age celebration that is also open to others living or staying in the region.

Following the celebration, join the Le Pas Opton Street Party, share a barbecue and socialise together through the afternoon.

We understand you come to the Vendée for a holiday, not a conference, so the programme is completely optional - but come expecting to meet with God as you relax in this beautiful part of France.

Entertainment

As well as the pool, bike hire, sports and the worship and teaching programme we offer a range of entertainment in the bar area.
This will vary from week to week, but often include:

pub and music quizzes
discos and dance evenings
talent shows
karaoke
films
musical shows starring our guests
cheese and wine tasting*
theme nights
competitions

Items marked with an asterisk (*) are not included in our holiday prices and will incur an additional cost.

We can also offer art classes and pottery classes and both of these require a small additional cost.

Your holiday needn’t be packed from dawn to dusk – all our activities are optional, so don’t feel obliged to join in everything! We want your stay at Le Pas Opton will be a great holiday and time out for you to spend quality time with family and friends, as well as finding refreshment and letting God speak to you.

Sports

For those who want a more energetic holiday, we organise plenty of sports during high season, including traditional French boules, volleyball, five-a-side football, aquarobics, basketball and table-tennis.
We have a multisports area and a sports field for both organised and impromptu activities and you can always hire a bike and explore the local area.

Soccer

Soccer skill s courses for the football crazy – both male and female – are run during high season. Sessions are run in two age groups – juniors (aged 7-11 years) and seniors (aged 12-adult).
Available from 28 July - 25 August, Soccer sessions last 90 minutes each day and cost £25 for 5 days. Places are limited - reserve yours when booking your holiday.

Archery

Archery sessions with Fabrice – an national level French archer – will run during most weeks. Sign up on site for a small charge.

Bike Hire

Bikes are available for hire on site, making it easy to get around without your car.
Hire by the day or week, with a range of models available including kids, adults, mountain bikes and children’s trailers.

The Vendee region is very flat – and therefore cycle friendly, with a growing network of cycle paths. A free booklet about Vendee cycle rides is available from Reception.

Golf

Jim Long, PGA Golf Professional, writes: "Four superb golf courses are within easy reach of Le Pas Opton - the excellent local course of Les Fontenelles is just 10 minutes away."

Play is available every day and the reception staff can help to put you in touch with other golfers on site. And don’t worry if you’ve not got room in your car for your clubs - we have good quality clubs available to hire from Reception.

Fishing

The beautiful river Vie runs along the bottom of the holiday park and is ideal if you want to spend a relaxing day fishing.

Nearby - so much to do...

There is so much to do within a few kilometres of the holiday park.

Leisurely walks, horse trekking, surfing, boating, tennis, land yachting, go-karting, adventure/water parks, kayaking and the infamous Vélo-Rail.

The lovely town of St. Gilles Croix de Vie is 5 minutes drive from the holiday park with its

beautiful beach, shops, bars and restaurants.

Our coach excursions have been very popular and we will be running more in 2008. Details will be available on arrival.

Excursions

Vineyard and restaurant – take a morning trip to a vineyard in the nearby Muscadet or Anjou regions, less than an hour away by coach. See how the wine is made and stored. Ask questions of the people who harvest the grapes and make the wines. Then, of course, you could always sample the products. Afterwards take a short trip in the coach to a local restaurant for a leisurely lunch followed by an afternoon visit to a local village or chateau.

Cinescenie – join an audience of 13,000 for this amazing and unmissable spectacle in the French son et lumiere tradition. It features over a thousand actors, fireworks, hi-tech sound systems, spectacular lighting and amazing horsemanship. The venue is the Puy du Fou theme park, about 90 minutes from Le Pas Opton. If you don’t visit anywhere else during your holiday, make this a priority… truly unforgettable!

Les Sables and Talmont- take the coach to the picturesque port of Les Sables d'Olonne, home of the Vendee Globe race, and stroll the harbour and town. Cross the port by water-bus and meet up with the coach for a guided tour down the coast to Talmont. Visit the rugged castle which overlooks the town before returning to Le Pas Opton.

The Island of Noirmoutier - the coach takes you north and over the tidal causeway to the island where you can visit a small market town before heading for the Plage de Dames, a favourite spot, for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit a traditional salt producer, see how salt has been taken from the sea for hundreds of years and even try doing it yourself! Return with the coach over the majestic Noirmoutier bridge.
