Walking

Take in the stunning scenery of the Vendée by following one of the many walking routes surrounding Le Pas Opton. Taking an early evening stroll is the best way to discover the peace and serenity of your surroundings.

Family fun!

Afternoons at Le Pas Opton offer a fun family activity for you to enjoy. Treasure hunts, walk-around quizzes, teddy bears’ picnics and challenges add some extra competition and excitement to your holiday.

Cycling

The Vendée region is very flat and therefore cycle friendly, with a growing network of cycle paths. A free booklet about Vendée cycle rides is available from Reception. Bikes are available for hire on site, making it easy to get around without your car. Hire by the day or week, with a range of models available including kids, adults, mountain bikes and children’s trailers.

Bird watching

The area around LPO has considerable interest for Birdwatchers. The salt marshes and coastline regions are particularly rich in their diversity of bird species. The Ile de Noirmoutier and its cycle paths provide delightful bird watching areas and is within a reasonable driving distance. There are mudflats and disused saltpans where waders and terns breed. Amongst the species to be seen are Harriers, Owls, Black Kites, Hoopoes, Terns and Bluethroat.
The holiday site itself has other interesting species of birds including singing nightingales and turtle doves in summer. Kingfishers and a family of long eared owls, if present, may be seen or heard sometimes.
