Choose either of two routes: via the city of Lille, or Paris. Both routes are serviced by Eurostar from London’s St Pancras station, Ebbsfleet or Ashford in Kent.

Booking the Eurostar

You can book yourself via the RailEurope website raileurope.co.uk. Wherever you book, rail tickets are not available more than 90 days before you travel.

Eurostar travel via Lille

London > Lille 2 hours
Lille > Nantes 4.5 hours

Changing at Lille station is easy and you’ll soon be on the high speed TGV service to Nantes.

Historic Lille has great shopping; an old town with cobbled streets and cafés awaits exploration, as do the museums and art galleries. Lille was the European Capital of Culture in 2004. If you only have a few hours to spend and you want to see as much of the city as possible, the tourist office have guided bus tours (which can be booked in advance if you prefer) in a variety of European languages including English. raileurope.co.uk

Eurostar travel via Paris

London > Paris 2.5 hours
Paris > Nantes 2.5 hours

You’ll need to take the Metro or a taxi from the Gare du Nord station to Montparnasse station to pick up your TGV service to Nantes.

Paris is the world’s most popular tourist city. With so much to see you really are spoilt for choice - the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Nôtre Dame Cathedral, Sacré Coeur, the Louvre.

If you’re tight for time, take a boat ride along the Seine. If you have time to spare, take in as many sights as possible making full use of the Paris Metro, an excellent (and reasonably priced) form of transport. raileurope.co.uk

Arriving at Nantes train station

On arrival at Nantes, you can:

•    Hire a car
•    Continue your journey by local train to St Gilles and short taxi ride
•    Be collected by our shuttle
