Crossing the Channel
There’s a wide choice of channel crossings; whether you like a short
crossing followed by a leisurely drive or prefer to sleep on an
overnight sailing and take a much shorter drive, we have an option for
you. We also offer Eurotunnel travel – or you can choose to fly/drive.
Holidays run Monday-Monday, so the crossings and prices below are for
Monday (or Sunday night) sailings. Travel can however be arranged on
any day – please ask for options and prices. All times are local –
remember that French time is 1 hour ahead of British time. All
supplements are for single journeys. Please note that some craft are
unable to carry oversize vehicles, trailers, caravans etc.
Please aim to arrive at
Le Pas Opton
between 4.00pm and 10.00pm in order that we’re ready for you. On your
final day, please depart by 10.00am so we can prepare for our next
guests. The journey times will help you choose your route.
Many of our customers find the daytime crossing from Portsmouth-Caen
ideal, as it has a pleasant drive and sees them arriving at Le Pas
Opton around 8.00pm. Alternatively, choosing an overnight crossing
allows plenty of time to stop off and explore en route.
If you’d like any help with your travel choices or working out the
cost, our Customer Service team are here to help. 01825 748318
We recommend you consider a longer sea crossing with the benefit of a
shorter drive in France on toll-free roads, and even the chance to get
a good night’s sleep en route.
Our preferred operator on the western channel is Brittany Ferries, the
most popular choice of Spring Harvest Holidays guests. Brittany Ferries
sail from Portsmouth , Poole and Plymouth to Caen , St Malo, Cherbourg
and Roscoff.

Fly drive
A little over one hour from the UK by air, flying is a serious option for your travel to France. The current competitiveness between airlines means you can take advantage of some keenly priced tickets and hire a car from the airport.

Nantes has the nearest airport – approximately one hour from
Le Pas Opton – and is well served by low cost airlines including Ryanair from Stansted, East Midlands, Dublin and Shannon. In high season, British Airways fly to Nantes from Gatwick.
From 20 June 2008 Easyjet will be flying from Gatwick to Nantes airport and car hire can be booked at competitive rates.
La Rochelle comes a close second – less than two hours away – with daily flights by Ryanair (from London Stansted) and FlyBE (from Southampton).
Poitiers and Dinard are also within easy reach and are served by Ryanair, from London Stansted. Rennes, a Flybe destimation, is about two hours away. You may also wish to consider taking a no-frills flight to Paris from a regional UK airport.
We’re not able to book your flights, but they’re easy to get online. There’s a £50 discount too, for those of you making your own travel arrangements.
