The Pinewood Story – Part Two

Our CEO Steve May-Miller visited LPO last week and was able to view the area we call Le Village –  home to most of our Pinewood mobile homes – with over 30 empty emplacements. The old has gone, but the new has not yet come. Until now, that is. The first batch of our shiny new mobile homes has been delivered. They are being manufactured at the O’Hara factory at Givrand, a large industrial estate on the edge of St Gilles.  They won’t get travel sick en route to LPO – the distance is less than 10km, meaning a lower[…]

The Pinewood Story – Part One

Pinewood mobile homes have been the mainstay of our luxury mobile home offering since we opened LPO in 2003. They were manufactured by IRM, the biggest mobile home manufacturer in France at the time – in fact 16 years later some models still boasted a fading sign on the exterior “No1 fabricant en France”.   By 2017 the management and Board were planning to update this range of 40 two and three bedroom units but Brexit uncertainty put things on hold. Fresh research was conducted in Spring 2019 by our new site management team and the decision was taken in[…]

Brexit FAQs

UPDATED FEB 1st 2020:  Now that the UK has officially left the European Union, will anything change for my holiday in France? We put some FAQs to Spring Harvest Holidays CEO Steve May-Miller. Will I need a visa to visit France this year? The EU & UK have confirmed we’ll continue to have visa-free travel this year at least. There are seventeen million visits to France by UK residents each year and France is keen to retain our tourist business – so it’s pretty unlikely that France will impose any significant barriers to entry, even in the long term. There[…]

We thought you’d be interested to know what the team are up to at this time of year. As well as “winterising” 140 mobile homes, packing up 60 tents and inventory, running stock checks and end of year accounts and taking some holiday, here is just some of what the team is doing: Refurbishing the swimming pool flume Refurbishing the swimming pool changing area and showers Installing a[…]

Top Tips For Your Holiday In France

If you want to head to France with the family this summer, here are some tips from Spring Harvest Holidays. How long can the family survive in the car before World War 3 breaks out? Think about in-car entertainment – not just DVDs but good old “I Spy” and learning about the new areas you’re driving through Dover-Calais is short and quick, but consider a longer Western crossing to St Malo, Caen or Cherbourg to shorten your journey time once you are in France Break your journey! Sleep overnight in a comfortable Brittany Ferries cabin, or stay in one of[…]

2017 bookings now open!

For me, it’s always an exciting time when we start taking bookings for a new season. Over the last couple of weeks we’ve starting confirming the hundreds of 2017 reservations made by guests during their 2016 holidays. We’ve also spread the word by email, post and social media that “booking lines are open”. The new brochure has a few changes, including more information about the various accommodation options. We’ve made new floor plans for everything from compact tent to the largest villa and you can check out the full range on the accommodation pages of this website. You’ll find that[…]
