Pinewood mobile homes have been the mainstay of our luxury mobile home offering since we opened LPO in 2003. They were manufactured by IRM, the biggest mobile home manufacturer in France at the time – in fact 16 years later some models still boasted a fading sign on the exterior “No1 fabricant en France”.
By 2017 the management and Board were planning to update this range of 40 two and three bedroom units but Brexit uncertainty put things on hold. Fresh research was conducted in Spring 2019 by our new site management team and the decision was taken in July to replace the entire range*. That meant 16 three bedroom units and 22 two bedroom ones.
The manufacturer this time is O’Hara – not exactly a French name, but a major mobile home manufacturer located just ten minutes’ drive from LPO in the industrial area of Givrand. O’Hara are part of the IRM group which in turn is owned by Benetteau, a major French manufacturer of leisure and fishing boats.
The three bedroom design is almost direct from O’Hara’s standard plan. However for the two bedroom model, they are making the units to our custom design. We know that our guests love the two bedroom, two bathroom approach of our current Pinewood 2s and the new ones retain this with all the brilliant new features now available.
It’s light and airy thanks to wide entrance doors and a full length kitchen window; the master bedrooms have queen size beds – a first for LPO – and very nice reading lights and bedside tables. The bathrooms have larger showers, more space generally and nicer sinks. All bedroom windows have blackout blinds and insect netting. There are USB sockets for charging phones. We could go on, but you’ll find more (plus pictures) on the website.
We’ll post the next chapter of the Pinewood story in November.
*Actually we’ve kept just a few of the older units which will be replaced later by different models.
